Issue 266 of The Gooner - Published Friday 11th August 2017

As we begin the final season of The Gooner, Arsenal’s best-selling fanzine, Issue 266 has the usual mix of both current and nostalgic articles. There is an interview with Brian Talbot, a recollection of opening day fixtures during Arsene Wenger’s tenure and an examination of whether Saturday 3pm kick offs were really so established before the Premier League era.

More up to date, there is a review of the FA Cup Final day, and an In The Away End special on the final delving into the online Chelsea forums to gauge reaction. There are articles on whether or not the changes made at the club this summer will have genuine impact, and on whether or not the objective of moving from Highbury has been achieved. The Alexis Sanchez saga is dissected, and there are features on the positives of the Europa League and the goalkeeper situation at the club.

There is a piece suggesting the manager might trust his players too much and a discussion on the merits of Alisher Usmanov buying out Stan Kroenke. The regular features and columnists include Talking Reds, The Spy, Mickey Cannon, Inbox, the North Bank Times and the 91st Minute. Plenty of reading to get your season up and running.
