Issue 211 of The Gooner from January 2011 which features the 16 page pull-out 2011 Gooner Calendar with this years theme being cult kits - red and white, yellow and blue, and even the infamous green and blue one from the early 80s! This issue was originally scheduled to come out for the Chelsea game just after Christmas, but a week delay as a result of the Stoke postponement allowed us to celebrate our thoroughly entertaining 3-1 victory over the team with no history on the front cover. The issue features a number of more upbeat articles for reasons explained in the Editor’s Talking Reds column including a look at the latest craze amongst the younger members of the squad... Twittering which at least allows fans some way of engaging with players who for years now have been far removed from the people who watch them week-in, week-out. There’s also an entertaining piece by Sam Bradshaw on how she is no longer able to watch games with her father despite him also being an Arsenal fan. Wonder how many readers may recognise themselves when reading this article? Ahead of the two leg Carling Cup semi-final against Ipswich, Howard Lamb warns against over confidence by recalling the 1978 FA Cup Final against the same opposition in a Gooner Gold memory. Plus much more, including all the regulars: Highbury Spy, Mickey Cannon, Anger Management, Dwight Hart-Lane, readers letters and In The Away End which this issue listens to the thoughts of Man United fans whilst waiting for a delivery. Postage in the UK remains free of charge for subscriptions and customers buying more than one issue, including any of those from our back issue catalogue, but it's necessary for us to charge 50p to cover postage costs in the UK for single issue purchases.
