Issue 229 of The Gooner from November 2012. It’s not been a good few weeks for the club and the front cover reflects that the real stars of this period have been the fans who have sung themselves hoarse at Reading and Old Trafford recently, and surely deserve better than the performances they have witnessed.

Each issue of The Gooner strives to reflect the current mood with contributions from a wide cross section of the fan base. This issue contains a good variety of pieces including an article by Nadim Naaman on players not being played in their preferred position; Simon Rose identifies a chronic Arsenal condition which he christens the Lame Defeat Syndrome; and Charlie Ashmore recalls the twists of fate which have shaped Arsenal’s history.

There’s also an interview with the authors of two excellent new books published by GCR Books about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, and ahead of the North London Derby, Simon Jarvis explains why he is already tired of the latest manager to fill the Tottenham hotseat.

Plus many of the regulars - the Highbury Spy, Mickey Cannon, Anger Management, Inbox, match reports and In the Away End which ventures into QPR chatrooms this issue.
