Issue 242 of The Gooner from March 2014.

As our challenge for the title crumbles, the focus is now well and truly on FA Cup success ahead of a Wembley date against Wigan so our front cover recalls a selection of photos from past semi-final glories.

In Kevin’s Talking Reds editorial column – also available to read here – he talks about the need to avoid complacency in the FA Cup now that we are firm favourites to lift the trophy and get the monkey of not winning any silverware since 2005 off the managers back.

Elsewhere, The Gooner’s Q&A series continues as Layth Yousif talks to Ray Parlour, affectionately christened the Romford Pele by Marc Overmars, about his time wearing the Arsenal shirt, his thoughts on the managers he played for and how the players disobeyed orders to celebrate on the pitch after clinching the league at White Hart Lane.

For our feature piece this issue, to mark the end of the Nike kit era we asked Gooner contributors to recall their stories or events, good and bad, from the sports giants 20 year tenure in charge of producing our shirts.

There are also articles about Charlie George and Yaya Sanogo, a Munich trip report by Lee Hurley, the importance of passing on your Gooner allegiances to future generations, and another nostalgic look at the official programmes from the mid-70s by Phil Wall.

All this plus much more besides including Highbury Spy, Mickey Cannon, Inbox, In the Away End, North Bank Times and a revealing picture of Tim Sherwood’s bedroom!
