The Gooner - Issue 249

Quantity :
Issue 249 of The Gooner from February 2015.

The front cover reflects the fact that during the 6 week period since issue 248 came out there have been some very un-typical Arsenal performances as the opposition have dominated possession and our defence has stood firm, helped by the signing of Gabriel during the January transfer window.

We may be getting carried away with the upturn in form, but inside Chris Cann speculates whether Arsenal can actually win the Champions League and we also review occasions when Arsenal have gone goal crazy and banged five or more into the oppositions net.

We also had an opportunity to speak to ex-Arsenal player Jon Sammels who was part of the squad in the 60s and early 70s. Jon is featured in a new book by James Durose-Rayner and we quizzed him about this as well as his time at the club, during which he suffered a lot of criticism from some fans.

There are also articles on the battle to be first choice goalkeeper, reaction to the latest TV deal as well as comment on the increasing influence of TV on anti-social kick-off times.

Plus all the regulars including Highbury Spy, Mickey Cannon, Phil Wall's nostalgic look at old programmes and The Away End which visits Spurs chatrooms this issue.
