The Gooner - Issue 241

Quantity :
Issue 241 of The Gooner from February 2014.

This issue is published at the start of a run of games which have the potential to make or break our season and the front cover reflects this.

Inside, as well as comment about the January transfer window, there is an interview with the Gunners legendary left back and former captain Kenny Sansom by Layth Yousif. Kenny talks about George Graham, David Rocastle and reveals who was the worst player he played with.

Our feature piece this issue highlights ten players who have endeared themselves to individual fans with something they’ve said or done. From Alan Ball’s chat with a fan in the crowd about the birth of his son to Kanu’s celebration with Wiltord at Old Trafford, the moments of endearment vary enormously.

The safe standing debate has been gaining momentum of late and Charlie Ashmore writes about how, whilst it’s inarguable that all-seater stadia have played a significant part in driving violence out of stadia, fans should have the choice of whether to stand or not.

There are also articles about George Armstrong, Per Mertesacker, a response to the article on early leavers in issue 240 and LadyArse writes about how social media has made getting tickets for games that much easier.

All this plus much more besides including Highbury Spy, Mickey Cannon, Anger Management, Inbox, an In the Away End special, North Bank Times and a search for what happened to a young lad photographed with Michael Thomas on the Anfield pitch in May 1989.
