The start of the season has not been the one we would have hoped for and the front cover of issue 253 from September 2015 makes the point that our options are more limited than they might have been had the manager spent some of the money the club are sitting on.

There’s an article reviewing the summer transfer window inside which looks at some of the players we were linked with over the close season and where they went or didn’t as the case may be. An episode of Arsenal’s Hidden History provides one explanation why they might not have ended up in the red and white of the Gunners.

Since the last issue, Layth Yousif represented The Gooner at the training ground during a Club Day for fans groups and he relays his thoughts on the experience during which he got to ask Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Laurent Koscielny a few questions.

We also recently interviewed Arsenal’s Supporter Liaison Officer Mark Brindle who is a good friend of The Gooner having contributed to the fanzine over many years and was also a founding member of REDaction. Mark talks about the highs and lows of his first year at the club as well as explaining the purpose of the role and how he is keen to hear from supporters.

Elsewhere there’s articles on Alan Hudson, Paul Davis, Theo Walcott, games played under floodlights and a guide to some of the worst kits we’ve ever had.

All this plus many of the regulars including Mickey Cannon, Inbox, Gooner Gems, North Bank Times and Phil Wall’s nostalgic look back at Arsenal Programmes Through the Years – this issue he’s reached 1982-83, a season which started with a picture of John Hawley on the front cover, something which was quickly changed.

The issue will be on sale outside the ground at the home matches with Olympiakos, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Everton, as well as the away trips to Watford and Sheffield Wednesday.
