The front cover of issue 258 of The Gooner reflects the view that we need some divine intervention if we are going to overhaul Leicester and Spurs to win the title this season. Never say never of course, but it’s fair to say the regular columnists are not overly optimistic.

However, the recent positive performances of Mohamed Elneny and Danny Welbeck are also highlighted with Dan Betts praising the Egyptian’s direct style of play and Simon Rose wondering whether Welbeck’s pace and movement could yet prove decisive in this season title race.

This issues feature piece concerns occasions when Gooner contributors have watched matches from “behind enemy lines”, i.e. in with the fans of the opposition, and there are tales of bravery, ingenuity and perhaps a touch of stupidity as well! On safer ground was John Hilditch who shares a memory of a clandestine trip over the garden wall and into Highbury whilst it was being demolished.

There’s also articles on the possibility of a European Super League, how the forthcoming EU referendum might impact on Arsenal, thoughts on the ownership of the club and the second part of Layth Yousif’s interview with L’Equipe journalist Erik Bielderman.

And of course, we couldn’t ignore the current debate about the manager, so have three contributors giving their thoughts on the situation and debating the pros and cons of change.

The 48 pages are packed full of Gooner goodness including The Spy, Mickey Cannon, In the Away End which this issue pays a visit to the Spurs chatrooms, Inbox, North Bank Times and Gooner Gems which features some eye-catching Arsenal artwork.
