Issue 272 of The Gooner - Published Thursday 9th August 2018

UK ADDRESSES ONLY – Postage included in price

The Gooner issue 272 sees the fanzine expand to 68 pages with a mix of current content anticipating the season ahead under Unai Emery blended with nostalgic content recalling past times. There are pieces on the new head coach, along with a view on the club’s summer transfer activity.

One article ponders the potential benefits of Arsenal players’ lesser involvement in the World Cup Finals, whilst another ponders whether or not the loss of CEO Ivan Gazidis to Milan would make a big difference. One writer believes the World Cup was more entertaining than the Premier League, and there is a feature on Arsène Wenger’s Emirates farewell, plus trip reports from the final two European away games of his tenure. There is an article on an attempt to get the stadium singing again, plus a four page humour section courtesy of the writer of the now defunct ‘Up the Arse!’ fanzine.

Looking back, there is an interview with former 1980s forward Ian Allinson, pieces on 1930’s player David Jack and a 1992 goal at White Hart Lane scored by Ian Wright. There are also articles on two books recently published – one on Arsenal’s formative years in south London, the other on the 1990/91 team that only suffered a solitary defeat in the league on their way to the title. There are also the regular columns from The Spy and Mickey Cannon, the Talking Reds editorial and a double-sized Well Played / Pain In The Arse! Plenty of reading to get your season under way.
